How to become deaf and dumb

How did you become deaf? This is a silly question, but some people are born with it, while others develop it later in life. Here are some of the reasons why some people develop deafness problems.

In the case of people who work in the music industry, studies have shown that deafness problems are caused by loud music. Rock stars like Eric Clapton and Peter Townshend believe that playing with loud speakers at concerts can cause this condition, especially if those speakers are close to you on stage. Permanent damage only occurs with repetition, and with this business, if you’re on tour, that’s bound to happen.

If you’re an actor or actress, you can have deafness problems from accidents. William Shatner and former President Ronald Reagan suffered from this disease because they were too close to where they were and there was a huge explosion and gunfire. The ringing caused permanent damage to their ears, which is why the former president had to wear hearing aids later in his political career.

Disease is another cause of deafness problems. Some athletes and celebrities suffer from a disease at a young age and never fully recover. Two good examples are Heather Whitestone, Miss America 1995, and athlete Jeff Flott. Although this presented a handicap, it did not stop these two from making their way to stardom.

There are also people who are born deaf, and in most cases, this is genetic. This is caused by diseases such as cytomegalovirus (CMV), toxoplasmosis and herpes. Medications used to treat these problems can also cause damage to the hearing system, especially ototoxic drugs.

If a baby is born prematurely, he or she is also at risk of becoming deaf or deaf in the future. This is because they may have severe jaundice at birth or experience a lack of oxygen.

It is also possible that the child lost his or her hearing due to an accident.

Another possibility as to why you may soon develop a deafness problem is aging. Studies have shown that a combination of loud noises, stress, certain diseases and medications may make this happen as we age.

You may also develop a deafness problem if you work on a construction site or in an airport, especially if you are not protected in any way.

Can deafness be prevented? In some cases it can, and in others it cannot. It is difficult to prevent this because we cannot control what happens when a woman is pregnant, but there are steps we can take once the child is born.

First, as parents, we should not take our children to places where there are loud noises. Because they are still young, their ears are not fully developed and are very sensitive.

As they get older, you should teach them proper safety techniques, such as wearing ear protection, especially if they have to do some home improvement work or when they decide to make this their career later.

We should also keep an eye on their health because they may have some kind of disease that can give them that problem. If the doctor is going to prescribe medication, make sure that one of its side effects is not deafness.
